Philosophy Student Guide
1. The
purpose of the course of Philosophy is to
promote the study of philosophy and to help
the students to develop their skills of
thinking correctly and critically and to get a
deeper knowledge of the values in the
different cultures especially those of their
county. It is meant to give the students a
panoramic view of the theoretical philosophy
and the history of philosophy to serve as a
basis for their future theological studies.
2.
It is a two year (four semester) course.
English is the medium of instruction.
3. The
students are expected to attend all the
disciplines covered throughout the course.
Each discipline carries two credits: one
credit for Participation & Research
and one for the Examination
held at the end of each course.
4. To
be promoted to the second year of the course,
a student must obtain 85% of the credits
allotted for the first year. He must also
obtain more than 60% of the overall marks

To be promoted to theology studies, a
student must obtain 85% of the credits
allotted to the second year of the course. He
must also obtain more than 60% of the overall
marks.
6. Those
students who satisfy articles 4 & 5 will be
awarded a St. Francis Xavier Philosophical
Seminary (S.F.X.S.P.) Diploma in Philosophy |
