Institute of  Spirituality  - Student Guide

The purpose of the course in Spirituality is to afford the seminarians an opportunity of getting a feel of their own vocation and call; to discover a call within a call and to realize that one is in the right place at the right time; it is a one year (two semester) course-a semester of  novitiate prior to the study of  Philosophy  and another semester of discernment after Philosophy. English is the medium of instruction.

Pre-Philosophy Spirituality

In the semester of novitiate, the seminarian is guided

To a profound and transforming experience of God

To an experience of self-knowledge; one in which God reveals to them what they are and helps them to recognize their deepest yearnings and desires as well as the obstacles that prevent them from being interiorly free.(2 Cor 3:17; Gal 5:13)

To develop a personal and intimate relationship with Christ and to know the love of Christ. (Eph3:19)

To become a new creation (Gal 2:20)

Post-PhilosophySpirituality

In the semester of discernment, the seminarian is led to the crucified Lord

To know experientially that one is a sinner pardoned and yet called.(John 15:16)

It is a Semester of Discernment of one’s vocation; to feel and grasp from within an inner meaning of being called.( John 15:16) a reflection to consolidate one’s personal vocation; apostolic work; identify the call within a call to voluntary poverty; chastity and obedience and all what it entails; priestly brotherhood; human maturity; stability of character & ability to make decisions; sound judgment of events & people;  reflection on conscience & freedom; discovering the depth dimension in one’s life and vocation ; analysis of flesh spirit according to Paul.
